As summertime approaches, it’s important to make sure your air conditioner is ready to handle the heat.
✔︎ Start with your outdoor condenser unit.
Here’s what to check to keep it running efficiently:
- Clear away leaves, branches, and debris
- Give the unit at least 2 ft of breathing room on all sides
- Make sure the unit is level
✔︎ Gently rinse the coils with a garden hose.
This will:
- Wash off dust
- Improve air flow and efficiency
✔︎ Check your furnace filter.
- If it’s dirty, replace it!
✔︎ Inspect your home’s vents.
They should be:
- Open
- Unobstructed
- Free of dust
Always test your system early in the season while temperatures are still mild. A few minutes of prep now can go a long way, but a trained technician can spot issues you might miss and ensure your system is running at its best for the season ahead.
