How To Prep A/C For Summer Start Up

As summertime approaches, it’s important to make sure your air conditioner is ready to handle the heat.

✔︎ Start with your outdoor condenser unit.
Here’s what to check to keep it running efficiently:

  • Clear away leaves, branches, and debris
  • Give the unit at least 2 ft of breathing room on all sides
  • Make sure the unit is level

✔︎ Gently rinse the coils with a garden hose.
This will:

  • Wash off dust
  • Improve air flow and efficiency

✔︎ Check your furnace filter

  • If it’s dirty, replace it!

✔︎ Inspect your home’s vents.
They should be:

  • Open
  • Unobstructed
  • Free of dust

Always test your system early in the season while temperatures are still mild. A few minutes of prep now can go a long way, but a trained technician can spot issues you might miss and ensure your system is running at its best for the season ahead.
